The Elephant House café, the “birthplace” of Harry Potter in Edinburgh, suffered severe fire damage on Tuesday morning. More than 60 firefighters were deployed to tackle the blaze. There will be a special exhibition at the National Library of Scotland in Edinburgh that will last only for seven hours. The reason? The 20th anniversary of the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
In August 2005, J.K. Rowling was present at the International Edinburgh Book Festival. After reading an extract from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix which was published a month earlier, she took questions from the audience. Here is a transcription of the most interesting questions from that moment, which take us to a time when we still did not know about the last two books.
