We are only two months away from the release of the third film in the new Wizarding World series, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. However, there are no official announcements yet about the publication of the original screenplay. For the first two movies, a hardback edition of the screenplay was published at the same time of the movie release, with J.K. Rowling labeled as the author. But this time J.K. Rowling penned the screenplay alongside Steve Kloves, so things could be a bit different.
For Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, the announcement of the screenplay was done between six and eight months before the publication, including a cover reveal. With the third movie releasing in April (less than 90 days away), no publisher has confirmed anything about the screenplay. To add to the rumours, MinaLima Studio, who were in charge of designing the cover and inners of the previous two, said they are not working on it.
But to bring some peace of mind, The Blair Partnership has confirmed to us several times (last time yesterday, January 26th), that the book is in fact going to be published and that more news are coming soon. That’s all we know so far and more news (such as the cover and the exact publishing date) should arrive soon!
