Jason Isaacs praises J.K. Rowling at the launch of the new Forbidden Forest section

By The Rowling Library on March 16, 2017.

Jason Isaacs who played Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films has recently spoken out in support of J.K. Rowling’s writing. The Belfast Telegraph reported that Isaacs told the press association “I think she is a magnificent storyteller who tells stories that are completely contemporary and resonant with the world that we live in. There are things ripped from the headlines, but all through the prism of her amazingly fantastical imagination.” When asked about whether the novels and films represented today’s political climate, Isaacs answered that he believed she covered everything from anti-immigration feelings to the rise of far-right fascism in the forties.

He was speaking at the launch of the new Forbidden Forest section of the Harry Potter Warner Brothers Studio Tour. He opened the new sector with fellow Potter actors Evanna Lynch who played Luna Lovegood, and James and Oliver Phelps who played the Weasley twins. The new exhibition will focus on the scarier aspects of the Potter stories and visitors will get to encounter Aragog the giant spider and the hippogriff Buckbeak. The Mercury News revealed that Jason Isaacs said that he would not bring his pre-teen daughter to the exhibition as she is scared of spiders.

With the successful release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them last year it is clear that the world is still enthralled by the world of magic. According to film experts Variety, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is the start of a five film franchise. Rowling has stated that the films will end in 1945 and chart the story of Albus Dumberdore alongside that of Newt Scamander. The next film is due out in December 2018 so there is quite a wait. Luckily for fans of wizards and witches there are plenty of outlets to satisfy their magical cravings. For one, Slingo have their own dedicated game, the White Wizard, that combines magic with gaming and is said to be their way of tapping into the popularity of the Harry Potter franchise. No mater whether the game is an official Potter tie-in or inspired by the franchises’ success, fans of the series are eager to try anything connected to magic.

As the new franchise continues with a new cast, actors from the original series are also starring in their own big franchises. Emma Watson is currently starring in the live adaptation of Beauty and the Beast for Disney while Jason Isaacs will become the next captain to sit in the famous chair for the new Star Trek series. Star Trek is one of the most famous franchises in film and television and Isaacs will be filling the boots of previous actors William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, and more recently Chris Pine as the main man on the bridge. We are sure that he will bring as much bravery, courage and charm to the role as he brought evil and cunning to Malfoy.
