We found out about this a few weeks ago – but we couldn’t confirm what was about. “Harry Potter Illustrated Box Set” was the title but no more info, just a suggested price. Now, we have all the details about what Bloomsbury has planned for November for the Harry Potter fans.
With a price of £60.00, the Harry Potter Illustrated Box Set will be published on November 3rd of this year, almost a month after the publication of the illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, with artwork by Jim Kay. The price is exactly twice the price of an illustrated Harry Potter book – which costs £30.00 each one. So it is common sense to suppose that it will be a set containing both parts – the first and second book.
However, we had access to the official description of this item and it confirms what we supposed:
Harry Potter in glorious colour – this magical hardback box set contains the Illustrated Editions of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets . Two irresistible complete novels – over 500 pages of classic storytelling from J.K. Rowling and more than 200 extraordinary illustrations from Jim Kay. This is the beginning of an amazing illustrated adventure and the perfect gift for Harry Potter fans of any age.
In November, we will be able to purchase a new box set (quite large, I assume) containing the illustrated editions of Philosopher’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets. We do not know anything about the containing box yet: it may contains illustrations by Jim Kay, and they could be artwork that we have never seen before.
We will have to wait until official confirmation from Bloomsbury.
