Deluxe edition signed by J.K. Rowling and Jim Kay to be auctioned by Sotheby’s

November 13, 2015.

On December 15th, Sotheby’s will auction a very special copy of the recently published deluxe illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Why so special? This copy, besides to be the first printed copy of this edition, is signed by Jim Kay, the illustrator, and J.K. Rowling herself. J. K. Rowling writes “The Book that changed my life,” and Jim Kay adds “Mine too! Thank you Jo.” He has also included an additional original drawing of a baby dragon.

The sale of the book will benefit Rowling’s charity, Lumos. This copy will be auctioned at London, 15 December 2015, 10:30 AM GMT. More information, as exhibition times, can be found in the auction page: English Literature, History, Children’s Books and Illustrations.

The estimated price is £2000 – 3000.  Lumos asked Sotheby’s to note that the book may not be used by a commercial organisation in promotion of its business. This is to avoid situations like Amazon buying the manuscript of The Tales of Beedle the Bard.
